Verse To Abide In
“Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” Psalm 139:23-24
From The Heart
This has been a constant passage I go to, especially in the mornings before I spend time in prayer. I have been focusing on it as we begin this new year, crying out to God to take out the old self and get ready to put on the new self.
Let's Pray
Lord, you’ve searched me and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you know it completely, O Lord, you hem me in behind and before. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, I can’t take it all in (Psalm 139:1-6 NIV, MSG).
Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in your way everlasting (Psalm 139:23-24 NIV). I empty myself of the old self, the flesh within me. Help me not to grieve the Holy Spirit. Help me to get rid of all bitterness, rage, and anger, clamor and slander, along with every form of malice (Ephesians 4:22, 30-31). Forgive me for…. Forgive me for any unknown sins (Psalm 19:12-13). I commit my heart and my way to you; I trust in you (Psalm 37:5). I am eager and excited to follow you into this new year. In the name of Jesus, in whom we have boldness and access with confidence through our faith in him (Ephesians 3:12 ESV) and in your Spirit (Ephesians 6:18). Amen.
