Verse To Abide In

“The Lord is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him.”

Digging Deeper

Since our last four blogs have been about trusting in the Lord (Jeremiah 17:7-8) I have had my thoughts and prayers seeking God, searching how my heart is in trusting him as we head into Thanksgiving.

How is my trust?

Am I really trusting him in my day to day living?

I was reminded of Psalm 28:7 in my search combining both trust and thanksgiving.  How perfect!  It is a blessing when we trust and our hearts overflow with rejoicing and thanksgiving as a result!

From The Heart

This past week at one point my body was crashing and I knew I needed to lay down for a time to gain strength to do what was in my schedule for the day.  I lay there thinking of all the things I needed to get done to prepare for the holidays and up coming events and such.  I started to cry out to God for help and then just began listing who God is…my fortress, my refuge, my strong tower…. I began speaking my trust to him and praying my trust to him.

My struggle the days leading up to this, really my battle was that anxiety (via the enemy and my flesh) had been attempting to rob my joy.  And when I got to the point where my body stopped moving I was reminded- whose strength am I relying on, my own or God’s?  I want to praise him and trust him and thank him when I am weak (and also acknowledge any strength I have on my own is only a facade) , so that he can be my strength and my trust.  May it be so.

Let’s Pray

You are my strength, Lord, and my impenetrable shield; My heart trusts with unwavering confidence in you, and I am helped; Therefore my heart greatly rejoices, And with my song I shall thank you and praise you (Psalms 28:7 AMP).  In your name, Jesus, my trust.  Through your Spirit, who testifies about you.  Amen.

I think “Who Trusts (Jeremiah 17:7-8)” can be “my song” to give thanks to him for this week too…
