Through Suffering: 2 Corinthians 4:10 NLT*

Verse To Abide In

“Through suffering, our bodies continue to share in the death of Jesus so that the life of Jesus may also be seen in our bodies.” ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭4‬:‭10‬ ‭NLT

Digging Deeper

"Remember this saying: “A picture is worth a thousand words.” The portrait you draw of Jesus with your humble, tranquil presence in the face of grievous wrong is worth many words on the subject. Some may see the life of Jesus revealed in you and long to enter into that life. That’s how dying daily can help bring life to another.” - David H. Roper

Let's Pray

“Praise God, everybody! Applaud God, all people! His love has taken over our lives; God’s faithful ways are eternal. Hallelujah (Psalms‬ ‭117‬:‭1‬-‭2‬ ‭MSG‬‬)!” We praise you, God!  We think about how Jehoshaphat went into battle with the singers and we praise along with them as we come to you now with whatever battles are before us, “…Give thanks to the Lord, for his steadfast love endures forever (2 Chronicles‬ ‭20‬:‭21‬ ‭ESV)‬‬.”  O God, help us to put off our old self.  Forgive me for….  Help me to be renewed in the spirit of my mind and to put on the new self, created after your likeness (Ephesians 4:22-24 ESV).  Help us to remember that we have been crucified with Christ.  That it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me.  So we live in these earthly bodies by trusting in you, Jesus, who loved us and gave yourself up for us (Galatians 2:20 NLT).  Help us to keep trusting, we ask.  Help our unbelief (Mark 9:24)! Help us not to lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. Yes!  Help us to fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal (‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭4‬:‭16‬-‭18‬ ‭NIV)‬‬.” Father God, we pray that through suffering our bodies continue to share in the death of Jesus so that the life of Jesus may also be seen in our bodies!  As we suffer, as these jars-of-clay bodies of ours become cracked and broken, may it be so that others would see shining through us—the knowledge of the glory of you, God, shining in the face of Jesus!  In the name of Jesus, Advocate, Teacher, Savior, Friend.  In your Holy Spirit, Interceder, Counselor, Helper, Comforter.  Amen!

2 Corinthians 4:10 NLT Song

*This is the only verse in this blog 2 Corinthians 4:6-10 series that is from NLT, the rest are from ESV.  I chose the NLT for musical flow for this one, but also for the ease in understanding it's meaning after the first hearing.
